Central to the program is the discovery of inner strength through the narrative of each participants' autobiography, promoting resilience and self-confidence. ITIN ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) and Income Tax Filling ITIN & Income Tax Due to restrictions on funding received from the United Way of Greater Fall River, we can only offer these services to residents of Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, Assonet, Little Compton, Tiverton, and Westport. If you don't live in these cities, look for the VITA program that offers these services. (Explanatory video here ) This funding allow us to pay the accounting company to come to our office to offer these services free of charge to people making up to $60,000 per year. To apply for the ITIN, the accountant must also issue your income tax return. You must have arrived in the country in the previous year or earlier. According to the IRS rule, you cannot apply for an ITIN in the same year you arrived in the country, as you will not have income from the previous year to declare. VICTIM ASSISTANCE If you are experiencing any abuse, know that you are not alone. You are entitled to various assistance regardless of your immigration statues. There are several agencies throughout the state that offers full assistance to people affected by domestic or sexual violence. Simply contact the agency serving your area to receive free and confidential services. These agencies help with crisis intervention, restraining and harassment orders, court follow-up, individual or group counseling, therapy, shelter placement, emergency food (grocery gift cards), moving or relocation costs, lawyer referral, cell phones with 30-day plan, and other assistance you might need. . These agencies can also help you fill out victim's compensation application. Harassment Order- 258E You can apply for a Harassment order (Order 258E) if you are being harassed by any person, you need three incidents in order to apply. If the harassment is of sexual nature, one incident is enough to be able to apply. Harassment must be: -Intentional and malicious. That means it was done on purpose and it was done out of cruelty, hostility or revenge. -They were directed at you. -Are intended to cause fear, intimidation, abuse or property damage. “Abuse” means causing or attempting to cause physical harm, or causing fear of imminent serious physical harm. -Indeed, caused fear, intimidation, abuse, or property damage. If you are of Sexual Origin, you need only one event: -Indecent assault and aggression -Rape - statutory rape -Attack with intent to rape - Seduction of a child -Criminal harassment Drugs for sexual intercourse To apply for an order you must have the first and last name, and full address of the person you are referring to. Harassment Order Form - 258E Step-by-step example of what happens when you arrive in court: -Go to the clerks office and say you need a harassment order. Right there, if you don't speak English, ask for a translator. Even if you speak some English, it is important that you ask for a translator now, so that you don't wait so long until one arrives to help you with your audience. -Clerk will give you the papers to fill out. You might be referred to a Safeplan advocate if they are available. Safeplan advocates assists victims fill out restraining orders and will help with harassment orders if they are available. -Inside the room you will fill out the papers, including a sworn statement. If you do not speak English, you will fill this out in Portuguese, and the translator will do the necessary translation. Then hand the forms back to the clerk so they can put them in the system. - Clerks will tell you which courtroom your case will be heard in. -You will enter this room and sit until your name is called. -When called, the judge will ask you some questions and at that moment it is very important that you explain why you need this order. -If the judge decides to approve your order, it will only be valid for 10 days. -You will go back to the clerk's office to get the copy of the approved order and there you will have the next date to appear in court, which will be 10 days. - Within these 10 days, the defendant will be served court papers where he/she learns that there is an order against him/her, and that he/she is entitled to appear on that date. -When you appear in court for your second hearing, the defendant may or may not appear, and it is up to the judge to extend the order up to 1 year. It is important to know that: -This order is Civil, and becomes criminal the moment the defendant violates the terms stipulated by it. -If you have any violation of this order, call the police immediately and explain what happened. Early intervention The Early Intervention is a free Massachusetts program for infants and children from birth to 3 years of age who have developmental delays or are at risk of developmental delays. Babies and toddlers develop and learn through everyday experiences and interactions with familiar people. The Early Intervention process, from initial contact to transition out of the program, is collaborative, individualized, and reflects the child's and family's priorities, learning styles, culture, and community. You are an important part of this process. You play the most important role in bringing the results of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) to your family. What will my visit be like? During the home visit, you, your child, and your early intervention specialist will: Learning about things your family does every day, like eating, showering, or going to the grocery store. Are these things easy? Are they difficult? How does your child do these things to you? Develop strategies to support the results of the Individualized Family Service Plan. Help make sure you and your child are feeling confident learning new skills while enjoying family activities. Why are visits made this way? Massachusetts Early Intervention uses surveys to guide home visits. It focuses on three concepts in working with families: Babies and toddlers learn best through lots of practice during everyday activities. You have the biggest impact on your child's progress. You are with your child every day. Early intervention is only with your family for a short period of time. The specialist supports your relationship with your child. They use the Parents Who Interact with Babies (PIWI) principles to guide home visits.
